The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has failed to fulfill three out of 5 fitness-to-practise (FtP) requirements, following an annual evaluation by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This is the third consecutive 12 months that the GPhC has failed to fulfill requirements referring to FtP, having last met all the necessary requirements in the PSA’s 2017/2018 review.

The PSA — an impartial regulator that units requirements for all UK well being regulators — published the review on 7 February 2022, which confirmed that the GPhC met all requirements referring to steerage and requirements, training and coaching, and registration between 1 March 2020 and 28 February 2021.

However, the pharmacy regulator failed to fulfill three requirements referring to the transparency and readability; timeliness; and assist for folks concerned within the FtP course of.

In response to the PSA’s 2018/2019 annual evaluation, the GPhC was requested to implement a “wide-ranging motion plan to deal with considerations” with its FtP course of, the evaluation stated.
