‘Nearly 3 million women farmers set up agri-nutrition gardens in their backyards in two years’ – Gaonconnection

Ensuring the supply of vitamin at family stage, 2,995,000 ladies farmers throughout the nation have established agri-nutrition gardens of their backyards previously two years.

This was introduced on June 17 by the National Rural Livelihood Mission, an initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development that goals at enabling rural poor to extend family revenue by way of sustainable livelihood enhancements and improved entry to monetary providers.

Highlighting its achievement between 2019-2021 (as on May 21, 2021), the ministry introduced that 5.1 million ladies farmers have been coated below agro-ecological practices. Around 16.8 million ladies throughout the nation have been mobilised into greater than 1.58 million self assist teams (SHGs).

The mission goals at offering sustainable livelihood alternatives to rural self assist group ladies thereby giving them a greater social standing and function in decision-making.

In the span of two years, financial institution credit of Rs 1,530 billion had been disbursed to self assist teams. Under the Startup Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP), 104,000 enterprises have been arrange. The programme focuses on supporting rural poor setup enterprises and supply help until the enterprises stabilise.

Meanwhile, as a part of the COVID response, 51 million self assist group members had been skilled in 324,000 villages on COVID preparation. Together, the self assist group members produced 225.4 million masks, 480,000 litres of sanitisers, 102,000 litres of hand wash.

Besides, financial institution sakhis have offered monetary providers amounting to Rs 62,776 million to 22 million beneficiaries between April 2020 and March 2021, as per the Union ministry.
