Stakeholders To Improve Food And Nutrition Security In Ghana


Stakeholders have mentioned the progress of implementing Food System Resilience Project, (FSRP) to enhance meals and vitamin safety in Ghana.

The FSRP is a Regional mission being carried out in six African nations to enhance meals safety within the sub area together with Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Togo, Chad and Ghana with funding from the World Bank.

Participants have been drawn from companies beneath the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, CSIR, Agriculture and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) targeted on Food safety resembling Esoko amongst others in a gathering held in Koforidua.

The workshop was to take inputs from all stakeholders into the implementation doc and to disseminate info on the progress made to date on the Ghana implementation of the FSRP.

It is a response to challenges in meals system comprising manufacturing, excessive value meals, meals storage and processing in addition to commerce amongst others within the six implementing nations to enhance meals safety for the weak.

Mr Osei Owusu Agyeman, Ghana Coordinator of the FSRP famous that inspite of big investments made by nations within the sub area in agriculture, local weather change impacts and others threatened meals programs and safety.

Components of the FSRP embody helping the Food System enhancement companies such because the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Crops and Food Research Institutes of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) and allied companies to strengthen their actions in addressing the deficits in Food safety.

As a part of the mission deliverables, rehabilitation of Irrigation programs and mechanisation of agriculture and others to enhance yields, storage programs in addition to commerce facilitations could be targeted on to derive the utmost goals of the mission.
