Social audit of nutrition programme in Maharashtra schools to be conducted

Mumbai: The social audit of the diet programme in faculties of Maharashtra shall be performed, introduced Varsha Gaikwad, state college training minister on Monday. This resolution has been taken to enhance the standard of mid-day meals offered to college students and improve the participation of the neighborhood within the programme.

The Central Govt-sponsored college diet programme is being carried out within the state and is benefiting about 105 lakh college students finding out in Classes 1 to eight in 86,499 faculties. The central authorities had instructed in 2014 to start out social audit of the college diet programme however no motion was taken.

Now, following complaints of substandard high quality of products equipped by the suppliers, the state college training minister has taken a choice to conduct a social audit of the programme. Gaikwad stated, “Social audit of not less than 5 per cent of faculties out of the whole faculties eligible for the diet programme in every district and Zilla Parishad (ZP) of Maharashtra shall be performed.”

Gaikwad stated, “The audit will cowl the state of faculty kitchens, out there house, technical and administrative paperwork, procurement strategies of rice and different items, grain inventory registers, coaching of cooks, helpers and dietary standing.”

The minister has given directions to the Director of Education to start out the social audit so as to improve participation of the neighborhood within the programme and analyse its advantages for college students in a correct method.
