Ensuring poor students get proper food, nutrition

IN LINE with making it a sustainable and Zero Hunger metropolis, Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has initiated a programme in help of needy college students from major and secondary faculties in addition to establishments of upper studying to enhance their diet and well being.

“The initiative is to assist the scholars, particularly these from rural areas and low-income households, get sufficient and nutritious meals throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, ” performing Shah Alam mayor Mohd Rashidi Ruslan advised StarMetro after chairing the council’s full board assembly.

He added that it was being carried out with the cooperation of the Selangor Education Department, district schooling workplace and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).

For the programme to be successful, the council not too long ago donated RM60, 000 to 50 major and secondary faculties.

It additionally contributed RM150, 000 to UiTM to facilitate the Rezeki Kasih Kupon Prihatin UiTM undertaking.

Mohd Rashidi mentioned the initiative was in step with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by its “Leaving No One Behind” method, which covers social, financial growth and social justice points.

He added that this took under consideration SDG1 which was to finish poverty in all varieties all over the place, SDG2 to finish starvation, obtain meals safety, enhance diet and promote sustainable agriculture, SDG3 to make sure wholesome residing and promote well-being for all ages and SDG11 to make cities and human settlements inclusive, secure, resilient and sustainable.

Mohd Rashidi mentioned MBSA was working with a workers of solely 20% working within the workplace based on the usual working process.

“Only workers from the Enforcement, Health, Licensing and Building departments are working at full capability relying on the necessity throughout the pandemic.

“We urge all MBSA councillors and workers to stick to the National Security Council’s SOP.

“We may even totally cooperate with the district Health Office and Land and District Office to continuously monitor the Covid-19 scenario inside the council’s jurisdiction, ” he added.
